Libraries Become Even More Essential

From the September 15 Poughkeepsie Journal:

"Despite predictions the Internet's rise would lead to their downfall, libraries have remained vital, transforming themselves from simple book-lending entities to community centers offering places for residents to meet, gather information and used the latest computer technology

"In Dutchess and Ulster counties, nearly every library recorded hikes in circulation, or number of items checked out, and visits from 2002 to 2006, according to data collected from around the nation by Gannet News Service."

All of the above applies very much to the Pleasant Valley Free Library and explains why there is such a great need for building expansion.
