It's A Boy!

A cheerful Library staffer, Valerie Britton, pictured at the right, was delivered of her baby today (October 9), and mother and son are doing well. The new arrival weighed 6 pounds 13 ounces.

As most Library patrons know, Valerie was in charge of day-to-day operations during Daniela's absence.  For once, the timing of two pregnancies worked out for the Library, as Daniela returned just last week to full-time duty after a short leave and part-time due to giving birth to her boy.  Now it is Valerie's turn to be out for a while.  When she returns, she will resume her former responsibilities as head of circulation.

Meanwhile, I am sure you all join me in wishing Valerie and her whole family well.

I'm glad that these 2 women had successful births and the timing of their leaves were complementary. Also, it's great that a parent can take a leave after a newborn and the same job is there when he/she comes back! I guess that's the law now but some employers can have such a grudge about it. I know you are not the employer but it seems like everyone at the library is okay about the leave.
