Dear Neighbor,
The residents of Pleasant Valley have been very generous in supporting increases to the library’s operating budget through public referendum, but it has become apparent that the library needs to expand to support the needs of our patrons. We ask you to contribute this year to the Building Expansion Donor Fund.
Here is why: The town of Pleasant Valley has been growing at a tremendous pace in recent years. Despite the current economic downturn, requests for library services continue to grow. Among the 22 libraries in Dutchess County, our circulation is fourth. We continue to add CDs, DVDs, and audio books to the collection. Additional computers with free Internet access are needed for patron use, even though we are now a WiFi hotspot. Our offering of children’s programs has expanded considerably, and our previously nonexistent adult programs are now steady, very popular monthly events, among them our book discussion group and Internet training sessions. In addition, this spring we renovated the Children’s Room.
A tax-deductible contribution will help us sustain our mission as the cultural heart of Pleasant Valley. You can make a credit card donation online to the Pleasant Valley Building Fund at the Community Foundation of Dutchess County (www.cfdcny.org/page30064.cfm) or by clipping the form below and sending it with your check – along with any employer matching grant forms – to the Pleasant Valley Free Library Building Expansion Donor Fund, Community Foundation of Dutchess County, 80 Washington Street, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
Your support will be very much appreciated by our entire community.
For contributions of $50.00 or more, a bookplate will be placed in a Library book, if desired.
