Two Great New Library Tools

At the start of 2009, the Pleasant Valley Free Library's Web site received a much needed make-over, which includes for the first time a detailed pair of pages devoted to the Building Expansion, also known as the Capital Campaign.  There is also a tab on the Home Web page as well as the Capital Campaign page that links directly to where a person can contribute to the Building Fund using a Visa or MasterCard.  If you prefer to send a check, the Capital Campaign page has directions on the best way to do that.

The other exciting Internet-based event for our Library at the start of 2009 is the introduction of an emailed Newsletter and announcement system.  If we have your email address on file, you should have already received the February issue of the Newsletter. If we do not have the email address, please tell anyone on the Library staff what your address is when you next visit the Library, and we will be happy to add you to the list.  Not only will this system provide the regular Newsletter, but it also can be used by the Library to make attractive and interesting announcements of forthcoming Library programs.

Another local library--Beacon--has also introduced a new email newsletter this year.  I noted in today's Poughkeepsie Journal that Beacon is going all out to collect email addresses, even forgiving fines for those who provide the address to the library. My view is that the benefits of being on the Newsletter list for our Library are great enough on their own.

If you have NOT received the electronic Newsletter in the past week or so, then your email address is NOT ON THE LIST.  So even if you think that the Library has your address, you need to turn it into the staff when you visit the Library.
