New Image for Building Fund

Readers of this blog may notice a change at the top of the left-hand column.  Instead of a color photo of the Manse, there is a green logo.  This is a draft of the new symbol for the Building Fund, a logo designed for the Library by Steve Simoni, husband of trustee Beatrice Simoni.

It was difficult to choose among the many logo designs Steve suggested.  I was totally amazed at his creativity and design sense. A small ad-hock committee of Daniela Pulice, Steve MacNish, Kathy Morris (who suggested many of the logo ideas) and me choose this one in part because it shows that the Library is like the name of this blog--It's Not Just Books.  Also, the symbolic tree is graceful and suggests that the Library is growing.  Of course, the text "BUILDING FUND" suggests correctly that more growth is on the way.

There will probably be some small improvements in the logo that have been under discussion, so you may see the improved version here soon. Also, I expect that you will soon see it in many other places--invitations to forthcoming library tours, programs for fund-raising concerts, on signs, fundraising appeals, on the Newsletter, and probably places I can't think of at the moment.

As the last sentence suggests, the fundraising efforts for building expansion are picking up momentum.  Be among the first to contribute to the Building Fund in this round and feel superior as you observe the new activity and, one hopes, participate in some of the events.
